Andy Wolff and David Scatliffe are bringing a new Poppenkast game to the Newgrounds flash audience. This time it’s Constellation Chaos.

In this game, players must draw a constellation using the randomly-placed stars provided. Small, floating shooting and exploding enemies are everywhere trying to sabotage your attempt. The new version has a couple of differences, the main being completely mouse-driven input and music by Souleye (VVVVVV).

In the meantime you can check out the original one HERE.

Back from UK!

January 28, 2010 by mirosurabu

I’m finally back from my two-weeks holiday in UK where I had awesome time at TIGJam UK2!

Although being awesome time I wasn’t quite productive game-wise. I made a small joke-game which got banned 15 minutes after submitting it to Kongregate and I made a small piece of music as a part of collaboration with increpare and dock. The game is called Comatease and you can check it out here.

Aside of that I bought myself a new camera (too much bragging about that sorry!) after my old camera suffered from display breakage. Thanks to that I got some photos from TIGJam. Check out this album.

In the meantime, there were some issues with hosting and I couldn’t figure out the WordPress problem that emerged as a consequence of the hosting issue so the site was down for a while. Sorry about that!

I’m currently trying to get back in shape by prototyping some small stuff. There’s that Global Game Jam this weekend, which I can’t attend but I’ll make something from my bedroom. Let’s see if that helps me do something! (:

Tanaka’s Friendly Adventure is a short exploration game created by Bentosmile that I later ported to Flash and encouraged submission to the Independent Games Festival 2010 Main Competition.

Below is the copy-pasted section of the IGF e-mail I received covering the game scores and comments from the panel of IGF judges.

TIGJam UK2

January 6, 2010 by mirosurabu

Thanks to the fact that I successfully got the visa from the second attempt, I will be attending TIGJam UK2 during next week.

For those of you who don’t know, TIGJam is a conference for game developers from Europe to get together. Over the course of the four days attendees will be demonstrating different programing and software development methods, as well as exchanging information about games development. There will be notable attendees such as Alex May, Terry Cavanagh, Stephen Lavelle and Markus Perrson from the UK, Ireland and Sweden. There will be thirty attendees, and it will take place in the conference rooms at the CB2 Bistro.

I guess there will be live streaming as it was the case previously. If it’s the case, you’ll be able to watch us live in action.

Expect games.
And pictures.
And more.

Site Reconstruction

December 27, 2009 by mirosurabu

Mirosurabu.com is live. (:

As mentioned earlier, the site is undergoing massive reconstruction at the moment as I am going to start a fresh new year with a fresh new everything. (:

I have finally sorted out the credit card thing and hence finally bought a bunch of domains and a host. A new website design (completely wordpress-oriented), a new wordpress theme, finally making use of my old twitter account, reconstructing pages and soon to come – games catalog widget.

I Love You 2: Revisited

December 18, 2009 by mirosurabu

PLAY ON KONGREGATE

A short interactive story about a boy and his uncomfortable communication of feelings. The story is told by a sequence of obscure mini-games and dialogue in between.

Perhaps if we’re in an age where portraying women in a stereotypical or degrading fashion is sexist, then doing the same to men should be so as well. I think it’s rather unfortunate that the protagonist is a bored internet diddler on a quest to have engage his sister in some “good times,” who then gets rather bored when his love interest *gasp* wants to actually talk to him. This is a base depiction of humanity and certainly a sad set of stereotypes to use to portray a man.

Last day I was wondering if I Love You 2 would score high on flash portals like Newgrounds and Kongregate if I revisit it and make slight adjustments to the game. I was really willing to see results and decided to do it. I decided to try several things:

1. Restructure the story of the game and make it more coherent
2. Make certain mini-games easier to play
3. Plaster it with links to my website and first game in the series
4. Better intro/menu interface
5. Outside-the-game hint system

In case you're wondering

December 17, 2009 by mirosurabu

I find it interesting that there are still some bits of information on this blog that remained unexplained. I know this isn’t appealing so I decided not to be so lazy and clear this things out.

Namely, QQUAK and In Another Brothel for flash won’t come any soon. These games were announced but I stopped on working on them for a couple of reasons. QQUAK for being a FPS and IAB for reminding me that I am too lazy to finish it.

As for CHART WARS games.

There are plenty of CHART WARS fans visiting this blog and from time to time I tend to run into a not that pleasant YouTube comment or e-mail.

The truth is that CW:TR and BOM are currently at the back of my mind and there is no clear date when these two will be finished. If you want something that’s more active, then you should definitively visit Osiris Games forums where I help with the programming part of the Music Manager game.

Thanks for listening and I am glad I wasn’t that lazy to avoid writing this post.

Complaints on my laziness are welcome in all forms – comments, mails, hatemails, etc.
